BRIJHS Arrival & Dismissal ProceduresNew Procedures for the 2026β2027 School YearAs we begin the new school year, we are implementing updated arrival and dismissal procedures at Blue Ridge Intermediate & Junior High School. These changes are designed to increase student safety, improve traffic flow, and create separate designated areas for buses, cars, and walkers. With McKinley Street now operating as a two-way street at all times, it is especially importantthat families follow the designated traffic patterns outlined below. Please review the information carefully and refer to the accompanying map/photo for a visualguide.π STUDENT ARRIVALStudents may enter the building beginning at 7:45 a.m.π Bus Ridersβ No change to the bus drop-off procedure.β Bus riders will continue to be dropped off in the one-way circle drive, as in previousyears.β Students will enter the building through our single point of entry.β Please do not use the bus area for personal vehicle drop-off.πΆ Walkersβ Students walking to school should use the newly installed crosswalk on McKinleyStreet.β Students should cross only at the designated crosswalk.β Once across the street, students should proceed directly to the school entrance. π Car Ridersβ Car riders will use the parallel parking/drop-off area in front of the Junior High.β Please pull forward to the closest available spot in the car drop-off lane.β Pulling all the way forward allows us to fit as many vehicles as possible into thedesignated area.β When the parallel parking area is full, vehicles should form a line around the perimeterof the parking lot across the street from the school and wait to enter the car-riderarea.β Students using the car-rider area should be able to enter and exit the vehicleindependently from the passenger side.β Students should exit only on the passenger side of the vehicle, away from movingtraffic.β Please do not park or leave your vehicle in the car drop-off section. This creates abacklog of vehicles and prevents traffic from moving efficiently.β If you need to exit your vehicle, please park in the parking lot across the street fromthe school.β° Important Arrival Timesβ 7:45 a.m. β Students may begin entering the building.β 8:20 a.m. β Students arriving after this time will be considered tardy.π« SINGLE POINT OF ENTRYFor the safety and security of all students and visitors:β We will continue to use one designated entrance for all students and visitors.β All students, regardless of how they arrive at school, should enter through thedesignated entrance.β Please follow staff directions and posted traffic signs when arriving at school.π STUDENT DISMISSALPlease follow the designated procedure for your student's transportationmethod. π Bus Ridersβ Red and Blue Routes: These buses will load at our regular 3:10 p.m. dismissal time.β White, Green, and Purple Routes: These are our late bus routes and will typicallyload at approximately 3:30 p.m.β All buses will continue to load in the one-way circle drive.β Please do not enter or park in the bus loading area during dismissal.πΆ Walkersβ Students who walk home will be asked to use the newly installed crosswalk onMcKinley Street.β Students should use the designated crosswalk rather than crossing at other locations.β Staff will assist with dismissal and help direct students safely through the designatedarea.π Car Ridersβ Families picking up students by vehicle should use the parallel parking area in front ofthe Junior High.β Families will receive a car-rider placard to display on the front dashboard of theirvehicle.β The placard will display the student's last name, which will allow staff to call students tothe car-rider area, similar to the system used at Schneider Elementary.β As the parallel parking area fills, families should form a line around the perimeter ofthe parking lot across the street from the school.β Please remain in your vehicle while waiting for your student.β Please pull forward to the closest available spot in the car pickup lane to keep trafficmoving and allow additional vehicles to enter the pickup area.β Students should enter the vehicle from the passenger side whenever possible.π ΏοΈ Need to Enter the School? If you need to enter the school during dismissal:β Please park in the parking lot across the street from the school.β Do not leave your vehicle unattended in the car-rider or bus-loading areas.β Keeping the designated loading areas clear will help dismissal move safely andefficiently. π PLEASE HELP US KEEP TRAFFICMOVINGThe success of our new arrival and dismissal procedures depends on everyone following thesame traffic pattern. Please remember:β Pull all the way forward.β Do not leave your vehicle unattended in a loading area.β Use the designated crosswalk when walking.β Keep students on the passenger side of the vehicle.β Follow staff directions and traffic signs.β Do not use the bus-loading area for car drop-off or pickup.β If you need to leave your vehicle, park in a designated parking space.β Be patient as we work together to establish the new routine.π Our Goal: A Safer, Smoother Arrival &DismissalOur primary goal in making these changes is to increase the safety of our students andfamilies while improving the flow of traffic around BRIJHS.By establishing separate designated areas for buses, car riders, and walkers, we can reduce congestion and create a safer arrival and dismissal processβespecially now that McKinley Street will operate as a two-way street at all times. We appreciate your patience, cooperation, and commitment to helping us make arrival anddismissal as safe and efficient as possible for everyone.Thank you for helping us make safety our priority!Blue Ridge Intermediate & Junior High School ...
